2025 marks a huge milestone for us here at Lomond Campers — we’ve just completed our 100th Renault Trafic Camper Conversion in Scotland.
This isn’t just another campervan — it’s a symbol of the journey we’ve been on since day one, and the dedication, detail, and craftsmanship that goes into every single van we build.
To mark the occasion, we filmed the entire build in a timelapse, showing the transformation of a Renault Trafic Sport from base vehicle to fully finished 4-berth camper.

1. Starting with the Base Van
Every build begins with the perfect foundation. For this milestone, we chose the Renault Trafic Sport, one of our most popular and versatile bases for Renault Trafic Camper Conversion Scotland projects.
Why the Trafic?
- Euro 6 compliant (no LEZ charges).
- 170bhp engine — powerful and smooth for long-distance travel.
- Compact enough for city driving, yet spacious enough for a full 4-berth build.
At just 32,700 miles, this van gave us the perfect blank canvas to work from.
2. Installing the Pop-Top Roof
The first major stage in the conversion is the pop-top roof installation.
This is where the van gains its defining feature:
- Extra headroom for standing comfort.
- A second bed for sleeping up to 4.
- Ventilation and natural light through integrated windows.
The timelapse captures this moment in full — watching the roof cut, reinforced, and carefully fitted with precision.
3. Insulation, Wiring & Plumbing
The hidden work is just as important as the visible finish.
We fitted:
- Full insulation to keep the van comfortable in all seasons.
- Electrical wiring for 12v + 240v connections.
- Plumbing for sink, water storage and fridge system.
This ensures the camper is truly off-grid ready and practical for long journeys.
4. Flooring & Interior Finishes
Next, the flooring is installed — durable, stylish, and built to withstand years of adventure.
We then move on to the cabinetry, kitchen unit, and side panels. This build included:
- Dual hob & cold water sink.
- 50L compressor fridge/freezer.
- Foldaway dining table.
5. Upholstery & Final Touches
The upholstery is one of the final steps — and it makes a world of difference.
For this van, we reupholstered the rear seat to match the cab seats, creating a seamless finish. Lighting was added throughout, including dimmable LEDs and low-level night lighting. Privacy windows and curtains completed the homely feel.
6. The Finished Camper
After weeks of careful work, the result was our 100th Lomond Camper build: a fully finished, ready-to-go Renault Trafic camper.
This van now lives at RV Super Centre Edinburgh, where it serves as a demonstration model for new customers looking to experience the quality of our builds first-hand.
